The Silent Closing

Well, yesterday was the typical end to a successful short sale…….the closing! That is when the seller finally gets to shed the 1,000 lb monkey off of their back. This homeowner had 2 mortgages on her property, which made it feel more like a 2,000 lb monkey!

We get to the closing table with all the typical players, you know…..Attorneys – the seller had hers, and the buyer’s bank had theirs. A couple of Realtors, like the old joke “How many —– does it take to screw in a lightbulb” and the buyer. On a side note, having the buyer show up for the closing is a positive!!

Neither myself nor the seller had met the buyer before, so we were mentally preparing ourselves for the barrage of questions. Thankfully we didn’t hold our breath, I would still not be breathing! Nothing, zilch, zip, nada. No words! None! No questions, no comments, no complaints, no excitement, no NOTHING!!

I am not a quiet girl, shocker there huh? And I know I can talk a carpenter ant off of a cord of rotted wood, but this was weird! The bountiful of conversation that I had with him consisted of my babbling and him offering a single weak chuckle.

Well, I guess the positive part of this is that the neighborhood just got a quiet new neighbor!
